Warranty & Guarantee Policy
Last updated: 12 August 2026
This Warranty & Guarantee Policy explains the product cover provided with goods purchased from OrbitBay. OrbitBay is a trading name of Cave Direct Technology Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.
The warranty or guarantee applicable to a product is displayed on the relevant product page at the time of purchase. We do not apply one universal warranty period to every product.
1. Product-specific warranty or guarantee
Products sold through OrbitBay may include an OrbitBay warranty, a manufacturer’s warranty, remaining manufacturer warranty or another product-specific guarantee.
Where applicable, the warranty provider, duration and any important conditions will be shown on the individual product page before purchase.
The product page and your order confirmation should therefore be checked to confirm the cover included with your purchase.
Depending on the product, cover may include:
- an OrbitBay repair or replacement warranty;
- a warranty provided directly by the manufacturer;
- remaining manufacturer warranty associated with the product or serial number; or
- another form of cover specifically described on the product page.
Supplier New, New, Like New and Refurbished products may have different warranty arrangements. The applicable cover will be stated on the relevant product page.
Any warranty or guarantee provided with a product is in addition to your statutory rights and does not replace, restrict or exclude those rights.
2. Your statutory rights
For purchases made by consumers, goods must meet the standards required by applicable UK consumer law, including being of satisfactory quality, fit for their intended purpose and as described, taking account of relevant circumstances including the product’s description, price, age, condition and any faults or cosmetic marks disclosed before purchase.
If goods are faulty, not as described or not fit for purpose, you may be entitled to a refund, repair, replacement or price reduction under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
Consumers generally have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days. After the short-term right to reject has expired, repair or replacement will normally be the first available remedy, subject to the circumstances and applicable law.
If a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, cannot be provided within a reasonable time, is impossible or would cause significant inconvenience, you may have further rights including a price reduction or the final right to reject the goods.
For consumer purchases, where a fault becomes apparent within the first six months, the law generally treats the fault as having been present when the goods were supplied unless this is inconsistent with the nature of the goods or fault, or evidence shows otherwise.
Your statutory rights may continue after any product-specific warranty or guarantee has expired.
3. What an OrbitBay warranty normally covers
Where a product is supplied with an OrbitBay warranty, and unless the relevant product page states otherwise, the warranty covers hardware faults arising during normal intended use within the stated warranty period.
This may include:
- a hardware component failing during normal use;
- the product no longer performing an essential function described on the product page;
- a manufacturing or refurbishment-related defect; or
- another fault specifically included within the product’s stated warranty cover.
We may need to inspect, test or troubleshoot the product before confirming whether a fault is covered by an OrbitBay warranty.
4. What is not normally covered by an OrbitBay warranty
Unless the product page specifically states otherwise, voluntary OrbitBay warranty cover does not normally include:
- accidental damage, impact damage, cracked screens or liquid damage;
- damage caused by misuse, abuse, neglect or unsuitable storage;
- damage caused by using the product outside the manufacturer’s intended operating instructions;
- damage caused by incorrect installation, incompatible equipment, unsuitable power supplies or unauthorised accessories;
- damage resulting from an improper repair, alteration or modification;
- normal wear and tear consistent with the product’s age and advertised condition;
- cosmetic marks, scratches, dents or other wear that were disclosed before purchase or are consistent with the advertised product condition;
- the natural reduction in rechargeable battery capacity through age and normal use;
- consumable components that have reached the end of their normal usable life;
- software configuration problems, operating-system corruption, malware, viruses or data loss;
- passwords, account locks, activation locks or other restrictions applied after delivery;
- third-party applications, subscriptions, networks, online services or software licensing changes;
- faults caused by power surges, external equipment, internet services or unsuitable environmental conditions; or
- products where identifying serial numbers or labels have been deliberately removed or altered where this prevents us from reasonably validating the claim.
These exclusions apply to voluntary warranty cover only. They do not remove any statutory remedy available to you where a product was faulty, misdescribed or otherwise failed to meet the requirements of applicable consumer law when supplied.
5. Batteries and consumable components
Rechargeable batteries are consumable components and naturally lose capacity through age, charging cycles and normal use. A gradual reduction in battery runtime through normal use is not ordinarily treated as a hardware defect under a voluntary warranty.
Any specific battery-health standard or battery guarantee included with a product will be displayed on the relevant product page.
Where a battery is faulty rather than naturally worn through normal use, your statutory rights and any applicable product-specific warranty remain unaffected.
6. Manufacturer warranties
Some products may include a warranty provided directly by the manufacturer. Where a manufacturer warranty is advertised as included with a product, the applicable duration will be displayed on the product page where known.
Manufacturer warranty eligibility may depend on factors such as the product, serial number, original manufacture or sale date, registration requirements and the manufacturer’s own warranty terms.
A manufacturer may ask you to register the product or contact its support service directly to make a claim. Where reasonably possible, OrbitBay may assist you with this process.
Being referred to a manufacturer does not remove Cave Direct Technology Ltd’s responsibilities as the retailer in relation to your statutory consumer rights.
7. Products damaged during delivery
Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.
If a product arrives damaged, incomplete or appears to have been damaged during transit, please contact us promptly at hello@orbitbay.co.uk.
Please retain the product and any available packaging and delivery materials while we investigate. We may ask you to provide photographs showing:
- the product;
- the outer packaging;
- the internal packaging;
- the shipping label; and
- any visible damage.
Reporting delivery damage promptly helps us investigate the issue with the delivery provider. It does not remove or reduce your statutory rights.
8. How to make a warranty or fault claim
To report a fault or make a warranty claim, please email hello@orbitbay.co.uk and include, where available:
- your name;
- your OrbitBay order number;
- the product name;
- the product serial number;
- a clear description of the fault;
- when the fault first appeared;
- any troubleshooting steps already attempted; and
- photographs or a short video where this helps demonstrate the problem.
We may ask you to complete reasonable troubleshooting before arranging a return. This may include checking cables, power supplies, connections, settings, drivers, firmware or compatible devices where relevant.
Please contact us before returning a product. We will provide the appropriate return instructions and return location.
Do not send warranty returns to our registered office unless we have specifically instructed you to do so.
9. Returning a faulty product
Where a return is required, the product should be packaged securely and include the components reasonably required for us to test and investigate the reported fault.
Where goods are faulty and you are legally entitled to a remedy, OrbitBay will cover reasonable return costs or provide an appropriate return method where required.
Where we provide a suitable return method, we may not reimburse enhanced, unauthorised or unnecessarily expensive alternative return services.
You do not need to retain the original retail packaging in order to exercise your statutory rights. However, products must be packaged appropriately to protect them from damage while being returned.
10. Repairs, replacements, price reductions and refunds
The remedy available will depend on the product, the nature of the fault, when the fault arose, the applicable warranty or guarantee and your statutory rights.
Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, or where required by applicable law, a remedy may include:
- repairing the product;
- replacing it with the same product;
- providing an equivalent product with the same or better essential specification and comparable condition where agreed;
- providing an appropriate price reduction; or
- providing a refund where required or appropriate.
Replacement stock may not always be immediately available. Where an identical replacement cannot reasonably be supplied, we will discuss the available options with you.
A repaired or replacement product supplied under an OrbitBay voluntary warranty will remain covered for the remainder of the original product-specific warranty period, unless we expressly provide an additional period of cover.
Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
11. Personal data and device security
Before returning a computer, phone, tablet, storage device or other data-bearing product, you should, where possible:
- back up any data you wish to retain;
- remove personal or confidential files;
- sign out of personal and business accounts;
- remove passwords, PINs and activation locks;
- remove SIM cards and removable storage devices; and
- disable device-tracking, remote-management or account-locking services.
Testing, repairing or replacing a product may require the device to be reset, erased, reformatted or restored.
We cannot guarantee that data stored on a returned device will be preserved. OrbitBay is not responsible for loss of data except where liability cannot legally be excluded.
12. Change-of-mind returns
This policy primarily covers product faults, warranties and guarantees.
Consumer cancellation rights and change-of-mind returns for eligible online purchases are covered separately by our Refund & Returns Policy.
13. Business purchases
The consumer rights described in this policy apply to individuals purchasing wholly or mainly outside their trade, business, craft or profession.
Purchases made wholly or mainly for business purposes may instead be governed by our applicable business terms, product-specific warranties, contractual terms or other agreed conditions of sale.
Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
