Product Condition Guide

OrbitBay sells technology in a range of clearly identified conditions. This guide explains what each condition means, what cosmetic wear you may reasonably expect and how included accessories, packaging and warranty or guarantee information are displayed.

The exact condition, included items, packaging information and warranty or guarantee applicable to a product will be shown on its individual product page where relevant. Product-specific information takes priority over this general guide.

Our product conditions

New

A New product is new, unused and unopened and is supplied in its original manufacturer packaging.

  • The product has not previously been used by an end customer.
  • The original manufacturer packaging is unopened.
  • The product is supplied as new stock held or controlled by OrbitBay.
  • The included items and any applicable warranty or guarantee information will be shown on the individual product page where relevant.

If a product has previously been opened, returned, materially repackaged or handled beyond what is appropriate for an unopened new product, it should be listed under another appropriate condition rather than New.

Supplier New

A Supplier New product is a new, unused and unopened product sourced through our UK distribution network and supplied in its original manufacturer packaging.

  • The product is supplied as new and has not previously been used by an end customer.
  • The original manufacturer packaging is unopened.
  • Stock may be dispatched by OrbitBay or by a UK distributor, supplier or fulfilment partner used by OrbitBay.
  • Delivery times and dispatch cut-offs may differ from products held directly in OrbitBay-controlled stock.
  • The included items and any applicable warranty or guarantee information will be shown on the individual product page where relevant.

Unless expressly stated otherwise, your contract of sale remains with Cave Direct Technology Ltd trading as OrbitBay, even where another organisation physically dispatches the product.

Like New

A Like New product is fully functional and in exceptionally clean cosmetic condition but may previously have been opened, inspected, returned or handled.

  • There should be no significant cosmetic damage.
  • Very light marks resulting from handling or inspection may be present.
  • The product may be supplied in opened original packaging, replacement packaging or suitable protective packaging.
  • Accessories may not always be in their original retail wrapping.
  • Any material cosmetic issue, packaging difference or missing accessory will be stated where applicable.
  • Included accessories will be shown on the individual product page.

Refurbished – Excellent

A Refurbished – Excellent product is fully functional and has been inspected, prepared and tested as appropriate for resale.

  • It will be in very clean overall cosmetic condition.
  • Very light marks, fine scratches or minor signs of previous handling may be present.
  • There should be no significant dents, cracks or damage affecting normal use.
  • The product may be supplied in original, opened, suitable protective or replacement packaging.
  • Included accessories will be shown on the individual product page.

Refurbished – Very Good

A Refurbished – Very Good product is fully functional but will normally show clearer signs of previous use than a Refurbished – Excellent product.

  • Light scratches, marks, small scuffs or minor cosmetic wear may be visible.
  • Wear may be present on the casing, stand, keyboard, ports or other frequently handled areas.
  • Cosmetic wear will not prevent the product from performing its intended functions.
  • The product may be supplied in original, opened, suitable protective or replacement packaging.
  • Included accessories will be shown on the individual product page.

Refurbished – Good

A Refurbished – Good product is fully functional but may show noticeable cosmetic wear from previous use.

  • Visible scratches, scuffs, marks, discolouration or small dents may be present.
  • The product may show heavier wear on frequently handled surfaces.
  • Cosmetic imperfections will not prevent normal intended use.
  • Any significant issue affecting normal use will be disclosed separately and will not be treated as ordinary cosmetic wear.
  • The product may be supplied in original, opened, suitable protective or replacement packaging.
  • Included accessories will be shown on the individual product page.

Functional testing

Products sold as Like New or Refurbished are inspected and tested as appropriate for the product type before dispatch.

Testing may include checks such as:

  • Power and charging.
  • Ports and connections.
  • Display output.
  • Audio, microphones and speakers.
  • Network, Bluetooth or wireless connectivity.
  • Buttons, keyboards, trackpads and controls.
  • Storage and memory recognition.
  • General operating functionality.

The exact testing process depends on the product. Some specialist features may require compatible equipment, subscriptions, software, accounts or third-party services that are not included with the product.

Batteries

Rechargeable batteries are consumable components and naturally lose capacity through age and previous charging cycles.

Unless a specific battery-health level or battery guarantee is expressly stated on the individual product page, a Like New or Refurbished product is not guaranteed to provide the same battery runtime as an equivalent factory-new product.

A gradual reduction in battery capacity may be considered normal wear depending on the product's age and advertised condition.

A battery that is defective rather than naturally worn may still be covered by your statutory consumer rights or any applicable warranty or guarantee.

Included accessories

The accessories supplied with a product will be shown on the individual product page where applicable.

Please do not assume that every accessory visible in manufacturer or representative product imagery is included unless it is specifically stated as included.

Like New and Refurbished products may occasionally be supplied with a compatible replacement accessory rather than the original manufacturer accessory where this is clearly stated.

Packaging

Packaging depends on the product condition.

New and Supplier New

Products sold as New or Supplier New are supplied unopened in their original manufacturer packaging.

Like New and Refurbished

Depending on the individual product, Like New or Refurbished products may be supplied in:

  • Opened original manufacturer packaging.
  • Original packaging showing signs of previous handling.
  • Plain protective packaging.
  • Suitable replacement packaging.

Any material packaging difference relevant to the purchase will be disclosed on the individual product page where applicable.

Product images

Product pages may use manufacturer-supplied images, representative product images or photographs of the actual individual product.

Manufacturer or representative images are used to identify the product and communicate its design and specification. Where these images are used for Like New or Refurbished products, minor cosmetic differences may exist between the representative image and the individual product supplied.

The product model, technical specification and advertised condition will remain as described on the product page.

Where photographs show the actual individual product being sold, this will normally be indicated where relevant.

OrbitBay is an independent retailer. Manufacturer names, trademarks, logos, images, specifications and documentation may be used for product identification and information. Their use does not imply manufacturer sponsorship, endorsement or affiliation.

Cosmetic grading

Condition grading involves a reasonable visual assessment and may contain a degree of judgement. Small cosmetic marks can appear differently depending on lighting, viewing angle and screen settings.

Cosmetic grading does not change the advertised technical specification or the requirement for a product sold as functional to perform its intended functions.

Where a particular cosmetic issue is material to the purchase, it will be disclosed on the individual product page where applicable.

Warranty and guarantee cover

Warranty and guarantee arrangements may vary by individual product and condition.

Some products may include an OrbitBay Guarantee. A manufacturer or supplier warranty may also apply where this is expressly stated.

We do not represent that every product includes a manufacturer warranty or that every product has the same warranty or guarantee period.

The applicable warranty or guarantee information will be shown on the individual product page or accompanying documentation where relevant.

Any commercial warranty or guarantee is separate from your statutory consumer rights and does not replace, restrict or reduce those rights.

Your statutory rights

This Product Condition Guide does not replace, limit or exclude your statutory consumer rights.

Products supplied to consumers must meet the requirements of applicable UK consumer law, including being of satisfactory quality, fit for any particular purpose made known to us where applicable, and as described.

When assessing matters such as satisfactory quality, relevant factors may include the product's age, price, advertised condition and any cosmetic wear or other matters clearly disclosed before purchase.

Product-specific information

The individual product page is the primary source of information about the particular product you are purchasing.

Where applicable, it may show:

  • The exact product condition.
  • The price including VAT.
  • Current availability.
  • Included accessories.
  • Material cosmetic or packaging information.
  • Delivery information.
  • The applicable OrbitBay Guarantee, manufacturer warranty or other warranty information.

Where product-specific information differs from a general description in this guide, the product-specific information displayed at the time of purchase takes priority.
